Arlington National Cemetery Flyover

FSNAVigator Plan

By Ed Wells

Ok, realizing that FS9 is not very exact in the placement of some of the scenery, I have attached an actual aerial view of Arlington National Cemetery (also attached are the FS2004 plan which can be loaded into the GPS via Flight Planner as well as the FSNav plan which goes into the FSNav/plan file folder in FS9). You can see the proximity to the Pentagon (lower right). In FS9 all there is as far as I could tell from slewing over the area is a large grass plot in the general area of the cemetery. The Flight plan attached has a waypoint marked "Arli" that's the general area of the cemetery in FS9. The remainder of the flight has you flying from Dover AFB which is about 74nm away to the BAL Vor then south to the Cemetery, you can then turn northwest to make as many passes as you like. Everything of interest in Washington is in about a 10nm radius of where you'll be when you cross over the cemetery and the pentagon. Finally I have you turning northeast up the Delaware River to land in Philadelphia. I've included NDB and VOR info if you want to go that route, otherwise simply following the heading changes and distances will get you in and out of DC relatively unscathed.

Eglin Air Force Base Flyover

By Bill Hendrix

Plan on leading a Memorial day flight including a flyover at Eglin AFB.  Takeoff time: 8 PM Eastern time, however you should set your flight sim time to daylight using fair weather.

Flight plan is as follows:  Take off rwy 1 at KVPS, then KIEG, KCEW, ITNEW, KNDZ, FF30, SAMMY, and land at KNSE.

Aircraft should be a DC-3 or similar type, altitude 2500 feet until crossing KNDZ, then join up in formation and drop down to 500 feet for flyover at Eglin.

After flyover, climb back to 2500 feet until landing approach at KNSE.  Airspeed should be maintained at approx 150 Knots IAS.

After crossing KNDZ, the flight to FF30 will take us directly over the tower at Eglin.  If you like you can switch to Tower view and observe the flight as seen from the Tower as the aircraft pass overhead.  We will use teamspeak and wcatc server 3. Join me if you can.  Should be fun.
