Bluegrass Airlines was started by a Bowling Green KY doctor and his two sons. They were one of the first post war intra-state carriers. The company ceased operations in the fall of 1946.

In 1946 the Central Time Zone was used for all of Kentucky. Currently Louisville, Lexington and Ashland observe Eastern Time
