My departure was from R/way 09. After take-off I found it was
necessary to carry out one climbing orbit for the DC-3 to gain
enough altitude to clear the first mountain ridge along the 
flight planned track.
For non pressurised aircraft additional oxygen must be carried
on this sector for passengers and crew.

A visual descent into Mount Hagen is reccommended
If this is not possible due weather the descent is to be
carried out whilst cirling the NDB navaid. Keep it tight for terrain 
clearance
I was alotted R/way 30 by ATC for my arrival with a left hand
pattern entry. You will note the mountain ridge on short finals
I found if this was crossed at an altitude of 300 ft AGL
the DC-3 was able to stop well within the runway length

S.W. of the airport.
