*** Dateline We have to make a few aircraft movements to help out the
problems arising north of Churchill (CYYQ).
The ice is coming and people north of Churchill didn’t get their
winter supplies in, in time. So we
will send 2 C-46’s to Churchill to fly the supplies arriving at the railhead
to Rankin Inlet (CYRT) and Hall Beach (CYUK).
We want to move the fuel oil as soon as possible then the food
shipments and then the remaining air cargo.
We are sending an Otter to Rankin Inlet and one to *** Dateline It has come to our attention that our pilots are not complying with official regulations pertaining to “Mandatory Emergency Equipment” required on all flights. For your information and guidance the following are the requirements: + Food for each person on the aircraft sufficient to maintain life for two weeks. + One axe or hatchet. + One first aid kit. + One pistol, revolver, shotgun, or rifle and ammunition as appropriate. This is for food gathering, protection, and to attract attention of rescue aircraft or vehicles. + One small gill net and an assortment of tackle such as hooks, flies, lines, and sinkers. + One knife. + Two small boxes of matches in a moisture proof container. + One mosquito head net for each person. + Two small signaling devices, such as colored smoke bombs, signal mirrors, railroad flares, or very pistol shells stored in sealed metal containers. In addition, the following are required for winter travel, October through April per person. + One pair snow shoes. + Sleeping bag. + Woolen blanket. |
