Commercial Fishing
in Western Alaska: by ATP Capt. Bill Odell
Several Industries
have been the backbone of the economy of Alaska for many years, commercial fishing
being one of principal employers and with natives in the villages doing the
bulk of the fishing. Canneries or
processing plants have been located close to the fishing grounds and natives
bring their catches to the facilities.
Bluegrass Airlines, Alaska Division has made a study of these
locations in order to provide air support where most needed. Click

Flying the Yukon River is
a lengthy journey through the beautiful wilderness of Alaska. Picture yourself as a Bush Pilot being sent
on a recon of the Yukon River after the
spring thaw. Your job is to note any
abnormal sightings such as erosion, blocked junctures with other rivers or
